Rae Dunn Lemon Summer Kitchen Decor

Hey friends!

How are y’all doing today? Today I’m sharing my summer kitchen decor. I’m seeing so many fall decorate with me on YouTube lately, however I’m still enjoying my summer decor . If you have been following me for awhile you know summer is my favorite season.

However while it’s still officially summer I want to show y’all what my summer decor looks like. I recorded a vlog showing y’all my summer decor and my thought process as I’m decorating. I also show y’all my updated Rae Dunn collection. I don’t go hunting for Rae Dunn everyday or go to store openings. I’m a busy mom of a toddler so my Rae Dunn hunting is very limited. This past Mother’s day Ken was very sweet and bought me some Rae Dunn pieces.

I have a list below of the various decor items that I can find links for. All of the Rae Dunn items were found at Marshalls or Homegoods. I get my decorative lemon platters from Homegoods. Let me know if you see something in the vlog that I forgot to link.

Wire Glass Drying Rack

Glass Mason Jars

Ice Bucket

*I couldn’t find the exact one I have but this one is similar.

Greyson Dinning Chair

Dinning Table

*They no longer sell the Greyson table that I currently have. This table from World Market is a close match to the one that I have.

Rustic Wooden Mug Rack

What do y’all think? I love how my kitchen looks. I ended adding some lemons to my decor and I also found the Happy Rae Dunn mug with the yellow interior after I filmed that vlog. I have some pictures below to show y’all. How things are looking now.

I will be taking a short break from the blog while we go on vacation to Jamaica!!!! When I come back I will continue my 2019 Back to School Series.

Why I am Homeschooling my Son

Hey Friends!

I am so happy that y’all came back to visit me here at my blog today. We currently overcoming a stomach bug in our home, so I have be preoccupied with my family. Now that sickness is over with I can get back focus on my 2019 Back to School Series| Tot- Homeschool Edition on my blog.

Today I wanted to chat with y’all about why I decided to start early learning with my toddler instead of waiting until he is ‘typical school age’. To some people it may seem silly to even think about my son’s education sense he is not even two years old. Ken and I believe in early learning and want him to be prepared to be successfully in life when he becomes an adult. I do plan on homeschooling my son for preschool and elementary grades. After he graduates 5th grade Ken and I will evaluate our options and see if we will continue or not.

I do want to clarify that I do not have my son sitting at the table for hours during the day or expect him to be reading chapter books by the end of the year. Tripp’s learning activities are all play lead and age appropriate. I will share our school curriculum that we picked, and what we do during our school days in another blog.

This probably doesn’t apply to most of my subscribers, but for the few that are African Americans raising (or adopting) little African American boys(s) to be men in the United States can relate to my next reason. I would consider myself fairly young (I will be 32 on Friday) and I remember seeing white men dressed up in KKK attire walking around the mall spreading their message of hate. It is a know fact that African American boys are more likely to get in trouble in school, to get labeled, stopped by the police, and not given the same resources that fellow white students are given even if they go to the same school. I know I cannot shield my son from every hateful person in the world, but I can protect his education and give him a head start.

That’s the main reason why I want to start educating my son now. I want to give him a head start. I want him to have all of the resources, and to get the one on one attention that he needs to eventually become the independent man that’s ready to conquer the world.

I have nothing against the public school system and I do believe it could work for most children. If you decide to put your child in public school that is YOUR choice, however Ken and I strongly believe that the school system in our location is not what we want for our son. Private schools is a great option, but it also is a very expensive option that we are not ready for.  My son deserves more and I plan on giving him more. When this country starts to treat teachers like they do NFL players or doctors then my faith can start to be renewed in the public schools.

I hope this answers your questions on why I am homeschooling my son, and why I want to start early learning with my son now. Please check out my other blog posts in my 2019 Back to School Series| Tot- Homeschool Edition series to see more homeschool related content.
